ADVENT 2021
Watch this space for up and coming events for Christmas 2021. In the meantime, here's something to whet your festive appetite....
This little angel is made in the amigarumi style made mostly in double crochet in the round. If you don’t want to be counting the whole time, I suggest using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round. You will also need to make a magic ring, make a chain and, for the skirt, collar and wings a half treble crochet. Made in double knitting yarn, with a 3.5mm hook this little angel stands at about 11cm tall.
I used Wool from my stash – but amounts are fairly minimal. You need a decent amount of your main colour but even then it’s probably only about 20g.
Materials
3.5mm hook
Double knitting yarn in main body colour, wings and halo (white/cream) and any contrasting colours you choose to use.
Small amount of yarn in a fleshy colour for the head.
Small amount of yarn for heart or star.
Stuffing
Scraps yarn for eyes if sewing, 2 small safety eyes, if using.
MR = magic ring
Ch = chain
Dc = double crochet
Htr = half treble crochet
Slst = slip stitch
Invisible decrease = insert hook into front loop only of next stitch, pull yearn through, (2 loops on hook) repeat with next stitch, (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
Into each dc = the loop from the previous round.
If a magic ring is too tricky you can always chain 2 after a slip knot and then do your first round into the 1st chain. This leaves a little bit more of a hole but it will be fine (you can always pop a sneaky stitch in to close it when you weave in your ends.
If you want to do a chainless foundation for the wings, that will work, just do
The little pattern for the skirt, collar and wings is dc,htr,dc all into one loop, sl st into next loop, repeat. Sometimes there is a chain 2 at the start for the first dc but it is basically the same each time.
